frequently asked questions
We have put together a collection of common questions and how-to's to help you out. Enjoy!
Nope. Just point your forms to your account URL and Recordit does the rest. However, we can also host you
site on our network if your interested.
The is no limit to the number of forms that may be submitted to your account. Each form you place on your website
typically has a form_id tag. Recordit uses this form_id tag to determine how to respond to the form's submission. So,
form_id tags relate to a set of rules that tell Recordit how to respond to a submission. The type of account you have
determines how many form_id(s) you may have.
Recordit responds to each form submission and applies a set of rules. A grouping of rules defined for a
particular form are called a form_id.
Here are the rules that you can set:
- response email
- email field
- admin response email
- response page
- response URL
- Constant Contact
- define exports
Simply enter your Constant Contact account credentials into Recordit (you can define more than one Constant
Contact account). Then select the form field on your form that collects the email address that should be added
to Constant Contact.
Recordit allows you to set up as many response emails as you require. Response emails may be sent to your
visitors and/or webmaster and may be created in HTML and text formats. Each form setup in Recordit then uses
one of your defined email templates. This allows many forms to share the same response email and simplifies
administration and setup.
Recordit will respond to a form submission by either redirecting the visitor to another web page, or
creating a web page. If you choose to have Recordit build a response web page, its a snap to include the
information collected from the form submission. Creating a response page is easy using our WYSIWYG
editor.

submit to our secure URL address.
You bet. We make all reasonable efforts to secure and safeguard your data. Backing up our systems is not an
extra process for us, it's built in. Our databases, for example, are continuously copied to Amazon's trusted S3
service. The elastic nature of the platform we use (Amazon EC2) mandates forethought in data security and has
resulted in a very fault tolerant system that always keeps your data safe. FYI, your files are stored and served
directly from S3.
While no one can promise 100% uptime, we make every reasonable effort to ensure the highest possible
availability.
Recordit is powered by a cluster of servers built on Amazon's EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud).
Utilizing EC2, allows us to handle spikes in traffic and quickly scale the size of our
network.
Any scheduled downtime is performed at off-peak times such as late evening or weekends.
We keep a backup of your data for at least 30 days (just in case you need it or change your mind).
Once we delete this backup, there is no way to retrieve it.
